SOUTH BAY UNIT

Dear Official:

 

Greetings and Welcome to the 2025 season.  Your board has been holding monthly meetings in preparation for the upcoming season.  Keep a look out for emails and check our Unit website for meeting dates and other updates.

 

REGISTRATION FORM: The Registration Form is posted on the Unit’s website (www.cfoasb.com) and can automatically be completed and submitted through the website.  All members must complete a new application.

 

MEMBERSHIP DUES: The basic 2025 Dues for ‘returning officials’ is $150.   Dues are $100 for returning officials who have only worked Flag games.  Payment(s) is due by 7/1/25 (postmarked).

 

For 1st Year (‘Rookie’) officials, working Girls’ Flag and/or Boys’ Tackle football, the Dues for 2025 will be $100. 

 

LATE FEE: If paid on 7/02/2025 or later, Dues for ‘veteran’ officials will be $165 ($15 ‘late fee’).  There is no ‘late fee’ for 1st Year officials.

CUT OFF DATE FOR REGISTRATION:  7/15/2025

DUES: Checks or Money Orders should be made out to: CFOA, South Bay Unit and mailed to: Eugene Thomas, 28364 S Western Avenue #330 Rancho Palos Verdes, CA  90275.

 

You can also pay your dues by Cash$ or through the Unit's ZELLE account.  The ZELLE account is cfoasouthbay@gmail.com.   

 

CREW MEMBER DUES: If an official is a member of a South Bay crew, that official must pay their Dues by 7/01/25 (postmarked).  If not, that official is removed from their crew.

ASSIGNMENT FEES: For both Tackle & Flag Football (all levels), the assignment fees are $5.00 per game. Paid to Rob Zeller by August 1st. (All assignments will be out by Friday, July 18th.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MEETING DATES: The Board has established the following meeting dates for the 2025 season: General Meetings start at 6:30pm on 7/29; 8/5; 8/19; 8/26; 9/9; & 9/23 (Make-up Meetings: 9/30 & 10/14).  Unless otherwise announced, all meetings will be held at El Segundo HS, El Segundo, CA. 

 

ALL meetings are considered ‘Instructional’ meetings.  To be Qualified, an official must receive a minimum of 18 hours of instruction.  Members are encouraged to attend all meetings.  Qualified officials can work Tackle and/or Flag games.  Please note you will need 18 hours of Tackle & Flag instruction “each” if you choose to officiate both.

 

Members who desire to work FLAG football should attend the monthly Zoom meetings.  Additional training dates are 5/21 (CFOA); 6/18 (CFOA); 7/15; 7/22; 8/12; 8/20; & 9/16 (Make-Up).

 

HUDL: If you are new to the Unit, contact Rob Zeller at Robert.p.zeller@gmail.co  to get a HUDL account.

 

TESTING DATES: the Board established the following testing dates:                     7/22 Summer Study Guide (Flag) due; 8/5 Summer Study Guide (Tackle) due; 8/19: Classification Exam (both Flag & Tackle) due. All testing will be done on-line through the Arbiter Testing site.

 

FIELD CLINIC: the 2025 Field Clinic will be held at El Segundo HS, Redondo Beach, CA, on Saturday, August 2 @9:00am-12:00pm.  (Additional details will be provided later.)

 

You will not be assigned any games until your Registration Form is submitted and your Dues have been received.

 

BANQUET: Wednesday, October 22nd @ The Green Onion in San Pedro
